Second Presbyterian Church has enjoyed a longtime relationship with the Mary Ryder Home, a nonprofit Residential Care Facility that provides low-income senior women a safe home, nutritional meals, medical care, and an array of programs and services focused on promoting healthy aging and enhancing their quality of life both physically and mentally.

On the second Saturday of each month, volunteers from Second bring cake, ice cream, and small gift baskets for those celebrating birthdays. Donations of items such as toiletries, writing materials, socks, small picture frames, etc. are always welcome. Items may be left in the supply cabinet in the Activity Room.

Second is looking for a new organizer of this outreach program.  Please see the following message from Buff Buffkin, a long-time volunteer and leader of this outreach program:

I need to pass the baton to a new coordinator effective with the 2019 parties (the work for assigning hosts should actually begin in November of this year).  If any of you faithful stalwarts would be willing to take on the coordinator role, kindly let Travis me me know.  I’m happy to provide an overview of what’s required.  For now we have sufficient gift baskets to last for a few months.  I’ll organize at least one more packing effort before I’ll need to pass on those duties as well.  Thanks to all of you for your faithful service to one of my favorite outreach efforts.
